Stable Screen Recorder (“the extension”) is designed to be private by default.
Nothing. The extension does not collect, transmit, store on any server, or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-up, and no analytics or tracking of any kind.
All recordings and screenshots are created and stored locally on your own device, using your browser’s built-in storage (OPFS / IndexedDB) and your local file system when you save a file. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party. We have no access to them.
Your recording preferences and a small recovery manifest (used to restore an interrupted
recording) are stored locally via the browser’s storage API on your device.
They never leave your device.
The extension requests only the permissions required to function:
storage — save your preferences and the local recovery manifest.activeTab — capture a screenshot of the page you are viewing, only when you
start a screenshot.tabs — open the recorder window and detect the active tab for screenshots.scripting — show the screenshot region-selection overlay on the current page,
only when you trigger a screenshot. The extension contains no remotely hosted code.
Recording uses the browser’s standard getDisplayMedia /
getUserMedia APIs. Your browser shows its own prompt asking which screen, window,
or tab to share, and asks for camera/microphone permission. Captured media is processed
entirely on your device.
The extension does not collect data from anyone, including children.
